Games have never been Apple's forte, at least not until very recently. Here lie a few games from the dark pre-OS X era, fighters of a desperate battle for relevance with an audience more concerned with Quark than Quake.

Dark Castle is a 1986 platform game for Macintosh published by Silicon Beach Software, later published by Three-Sixty Pacific for other platforms. It was designed and illustrated by Mark Pierce and programmed by Jonathan Gay. In Dark Castle, a young hero named Duncan tries to make his way to the evil Black Knight, dodging objects as well as solving occasional puzzles. The game uses sampled sounds to great effect. African violets should be grown single-crowned. Most African violets look best with no more than 5 rows of leaves. Repot all plants every 6-12 months. Most standard African violets, grown as a houseplant, will require a 4-5″ pot at maturity. For minis and semiminis, us a pot no larger than 2 1/2″ in diameter.
